Windows 10

My wife and me are using just one computer on which Windows 10 runs.My first contact with Windows 10 was at the datacenter of the University of Regensburg. It was the version Windows 10 Education. I myself don`t use Windows anymore, expect Windows 2016 R2 Datacenter in a VM on my server.

fedora 32

I use fedora 32 on my laptop. This linux distribution is one of my favorite distributions. I had to install fedora on the laptop because I had a problem with the wlan-card in it. I couldn´t find and install a suitable driver for the card under debian. I use my laptop to surf in the internet, program websites, program in Python and do all kind of stuff with it.

OpenSuse Leap 15.2 Beta

I use OpenSuse Leap 15.2 Beta on my server, which has 4 twelve-core-processors in it. I couldn`t install CentOS 8 on the server because CentOS 8 couldn`t find any harddrive. Therefore I tested OpenSuse and it runs on the server very well. Although it is a beta-version it is very stable and surprisingly has HPC-libraries.

VmWare Workstation 12:

I use "Buster" on my computer which I use to program in Python.

Operating systems in virtual machines

It is planned that four virtual machines will run on my server. There are following operating systems planned:

  • ORACLE Solaris 11.3
  • Windows Server 2016 Datacenter
  • FreeBSD 12.1
  • CentOS 8
